Israel Tours Questions and Answers with Licenced Tour Guide David Ha'ivri
All being well, will be in Israel in June/July - with a tween and a teen. Please could I have suggestions on "must sees" as well as things you think tweens/teens would enjoy. Will mainly be between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem (public transport) but don't mind traveling a bit further. Many thanks.
June and July in Israel are hot. It is advisable to wear a hat when you're out, seek shade whenever possible, carry water, and drink more than you think you need.
Getting around using public transportation is very doable. You can obtain a Ravcard at the airport, but you might prefer using the Moovit app, which provides live updates on schedules, trip planning, navigation, and a convenient payment system all in one. That's my preferred choice.
There are numerous must-see sites for both teens and adults in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and the surrounding areas. Here are just a few:
**Tel Aviv:**
- The beach
- Anu Museum of the Jewish People
- Jaffa Flea Market
- Carmel Market
- The Palmach Museum
**Jerusalem:**
- The Ramparts of the Walls of the Old City
- The Davidson Center
- The Tower of David Museum
- Plugat HaKotel Museum
- The Temple Mount
- Hezekiah's Tunnel
- Machane Yehuda Market
- The Israel Museum
Feel free to reach out if you have any follow-up questions! 😊
Thinking of combining the Biblical Museum of Natural History and the Police Museum for a day when we'll be near RBS. Is that too much "museuming" in one day, or are they very interactive that you don't feel like you are in a regular museum? How much time would you leave for each? Kids ages 12-17.
If we do the English tour at the police museum, does that include the "blue force" detective activity which says it takes 45 minutes or is that in addition to the regular tour?
Both sites should be engaging and fun for all ages, going beyond the typical experience of walking through galleries. However, you can break up the two visits with a lunch break in between. The 45-minute Blue Force activity at the Police Museum is an additional option aside from the regular guided tour. Reservations for this activity must be made in advance.
Looking for something to do with a teenager who isn’t interested in just hiking. Anything cool, fun or unusual? Has already done many of the “typical” activities, such as tunnel tours, bet guvrin, and the activities that NCSY summer camps do . Within 1.5 hr of Bet Shemesh; can also be volunteering.
Within an hour and a half from Beit Shemesh, you can explore all of Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Gush Etzion, the Lachish region, and everything in between. The options are endless, and many of them are worth experiencing more than once. Here are some recommendations:
Jerusalem:
The Ramparts walk on the walls of the Old City
The Tower of David Museum
Plugat HaKotel Museum
Jerusalem Trail with David Ha’ivri
The farm at HaGai and the suspension bridge over it
Tel Aviv:
The Jaffa Flea Market
The Palmach Museum
Anu Museum of the Jewish People
Between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv:
Khan Shaar HaGai
Gush Etzion
The Zip line and ATV rides
